On June 8th, Xin Qi, vice chairman of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), met with a delegation headed by Bhokin, former deputy prime minister of Thailand and president of Thai-Sino Cultural and Economic Association (TCEA), at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Vice-chairman Xin said that the TCEA has maintained close cooperation with the CAIFC, is actively devoted to the Sino-Thai friendship, has vigorously promoted bilateral pragmatic cooperation and made important contributions under the leadership of former Thai prime minister General Chavalit and former Thai deputy prime minister Dr. Somkid. Vice-chairman Xin indicated that this year is the first year of the “13th Five-year Plan” and also marks the joint construction of “One Belt One Road” by China and the countries concerned. He hoped that the two organizations could play their respective advantages to strengthen exchanges and cooperation and actively serve for and participate in the construction of “One Belt One Road”. Vice-chairman Xin also briefed the guests on the recent change of leadership in the CAIFC.
President Bhokin congratulated on the successful holding of the Fifth Membership Congress and the First Meeting of the Council of CAIFC and appreciated CAIFC for its long-term role as a “convenient bridge” for Sino-Thai strategic cooperation. He said that he would like to further the cooperation between the two organizations and continue to promote the development of friendly relations between the two peoples.
Zhou Xinzheng, deputy secretary general of the CAIFC, was also present at the meeting.
