On May 6th, the 18th “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” of Chinese Weiqi and Blitz Game, co-hosted by the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) and the Chinese Chess Association, was held in Beijing and attracted more than 500 players. Xin Qi, vice chairman of the CAIFC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Vice-chairman Xin Qi spoke highly of the contributions that the Japanese Agon Shu and its founder Seiyu Kiriyama have made to promoting Sino-Japanese friendship over the years and hoped that the players could bear the mission of the times, carry forward the traditional Chinese culture and competitive spirit, strengthen the Sino-Japanese exchanges in Weiqi game, jointly promote East Asian civilization, and boost the continuous development of Sino-Japanese friendship.

The “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” was launched and exclusively sponsored by Seiyu Kiriyama in 1999 and is held concurrently in both China and Japan. It now has become one of the largest and most important Weiqi and Blitz games in both countries. This game plays a positive role in promoting the Sino-Japanese cooperation in Weiqi game and enhancing the mutual understanding and friendship of both peoples.
