CAIFC Meets with Delegation of Japan-Sino Friendly Association of Senior Soldiers

Upon the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), a delegation of Japan-Sino Friendly Association of Senior Soldiers (JFASS) led by its President Nobuo Shigematsu, visited Beijing, Nanjing and Guiyang in China from March 23rd to 30th.

Xin Qi, vice chairman of the CAIFC, met with the delegation and spoke highly of JFASS’s persistent efforts to carry out long-term peace and anti-war campaigns and Sino-Japanese friendship activities, as well as to restore the diplomatic relations and promote friendship between the two peoples. Vice-chairman Xin briefed the guests on the two sessions of China this year and Chairman Xi Jinping’s ideas about China’s peaceful development and building of community of common destiny for all mankind. Drawing on the relations between China and Japan for more than 2,000 years and the current development trend in the world, Vice-chairman Xin indicated that China’s development brings opportunities instead of threat to Japan and that peace between China and Japan is an irreversible historical trend. He encouraged the JFASS to play a bigger role in promoting Sino-Japanese friendship. President Shigematsu said that the JFASS would continue the principles of maintaining the pacifist constitution, objecting to wars and rearmament of Japan and living on friendly terms with Japan. He indicated that the JFASS would like to work with the CAIFC in promoting understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

During the visit, the delegation visited the Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression and Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, and discussed with teachers and students in local universities and middle schools.

Zhou Xinzheng, deputy secretary general of the CAIFC, participated in the activities.
