Vice-chairman Deng Rong Meets with Roza Otunbayeva

On February 25th, Deng Rong, vice chairman of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), met in Beijing with Roza Otunbayeva, former President of Kyrgyzstan, who visited China to attend the first meeting of the Silk Road dialogue.

Vice-chairman Deng pointed out that peoples in China and Kyrgyzstan have maintained friendly exchanges for long and the ancient Silk Road has bound Central Asian countries including Kyrgyzstan and China closer. The strategic initiative “One Belt One Road” proposed by Chairman Xi Jinping brings new opportunities of complementary advantages, opening up and development and win-win cooperation for the regions and countries involved. Vice-chairman Deng highly appreciated Otunbayeva’s efforts to promote the friendship and friendly cooperation between both peoples. Otunbayeva indicated that the strategic initiative “One Belt One Road” is in the development interests of the countries involved and will drive the social and economic development and improve the well-being of people in Kyrgyzstan. The book My father Deng Xiaoping --- the Years of the Cultural Revolution “opens a window” for the people in Kyrgyzstan to fully learn about China and is a valuable material for people to have an objective understanding of the development of China. She said that she would like to further strengthen cooperation with the CAIFC and promote friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in all areas on a non-governmental basis. The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
