On June 15th, the 17th “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” of Weiqi Contest co-hosted by the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) and Chinese Chess Association was held in Beijing, and more than 500 professionals and amateurs participated in the contest. Zhou Xinzheng, deputy secretary general of the CAIFC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
The “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” of Weiqi Contest was initiated and exclusively sponsored by Seiyu Kiriyama, founder of Japanese Agon Shu in 1999. It is held in both China and Japan and has now become one of the most largest and most important traditional contests between the two countries, playing an important role in promoting exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Japanese Weiqi circles and enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
