CAIFC Hosts Fukushiro Nukaga, Japan＇s senior member of congress visiting China

At the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), from May 15th to 20th, Fukushiro Nukaga, Japan＇s senior member of congress and leader of the second faction of Liberal Democratic Party, leading the delegation of total 5 persons paid a visit to China, and had successively visited Beijing, Harbin, Dalian and other places, which achieved complete success.

During the visit, leaders Tang Jiaxuan, the former State Councillor, Chairman Li Zhaoxing and Vice Chairman Li Xiaohua of the CAIFC, and Yang Yanyi, assistant minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, separately met with the delegation led by Fukushiro Nukaga. In the meeting, Tang Jiaxuan expressed sympathy and solicitude to the north-east Japan where suffered from severe seismic tsunami disaster, also declared that the Chinese government and people will provide the most assistance for Japan＇s post-disaster reconstruction, and gave a high appraisal to the contribution that Fukushiro Nukaga made in promoting the relationship between China and Japan when he occupied an important position in Liberal Democratic Party. Chairman Li Zhaoxing appreciated Mr.  Fukushiro Nukaga’s active assisting the CAIFC to develop friendly exchanges with Japan, hoping that both sides further strengthen the contact in the future.

Fukushiro Nukaga appreciated the selfless assistance the Chinese government and people provided to Japan this time, declaring that President Hu Jintao went to the Japanese embassy in China to express condolence to the victims in person and Premier Wen Jiabao left for the worst-hit area Fukushima to expressed sympathy to the victims, both played a positive role in improving people’s sentiment between the two countries. Fukushiro Nukaga also declared that Japan will draw lessons and sum up experience to provide the reference for the international community in better resolving the nuclear security problems in future.

On May 16th, Fukushiro Nukaga made a keynote speech on Japan’s political situation after eaerthquake and China-Japan relationship in Shouren International Center of Peking University, exchanging with teachers and students. In speech, Fukushiro Nukaga declared that Liberal Democratic Party attaches great importance to develop China-Japan relationship, believing that China’s rise makes no threat and Japan will benefit from it. Fukushiro Nukaga propose to strength the cooperation between China, Japan and Korea, to jointly promote peace and development in this region.
