CAIFC Holds “American Policy toward the Middle East Symposium”

On May 19th 2011, the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) held “American Policy toward the Middle East Symposium” in Beijing. About 20 experts and scholars including the Delegation of American Jewish Committee led by Robert?Elman, Ma Zhengang from China Institute of International Studies, Zhu Feng from Institutes of International Relations, Peking University, Yan Gang from Institute of West Asia and North Africa, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Wang Honggang from US Institute, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, discussed about Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations progress, Iranian nuclear issue and the West Asia and North Africa situation in current circumstance, as well as the influence of American policy toward the Middle East. The symposium also discussed the future developing trend of China-America relationship. Both sides agreed that China-America relationship influences significantly the world’s peace, development and stability, and meanwhile the structural contradictions still exist, so the both sides should strengthen the mutual trust in strategy and the mutual understanding. The symposium was hosted by Gao Yuan, director of Peace and Development Research Center.
