CAIFC Holds a Seminar on the "U.S. Policy toward the Middle East"

The China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) held a seminar on the "U.S. policy toward the Middle East" in Beijing on May 19, 2011. The American Jewish Council delegation, led by Robert ? Elman, Ma Zhenggang of the China Institute of International Studies, Zhu Feng of the Institute of the International Studies in Peking University, Yin Gang of the Institute of the Western Asia and North Africa in Chinese Academy of Social Science and Wang Honggang of the America Studies in China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), with a total of more than 20 experts and scholars, had a discussion on the process of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks under the new situation, Iraq's nuclear issue, the situation in West Asia and North Africa, and the impact of the U.S. policy toward Middle East on these issues. The meeting also discussed the future development trend of China-US relations. Both sides agreed that China-US relations were of great significance to today's world of peace, development and stability, but structural problems also existed. This required both sides to enhance strategic mutual trust and understanding. The seminar was presided over by Director Gao Yuan of the Center for Peace and Development Studies (CPDS).
