Secretary-General Song Enlei Meets with Director-General Ogata Takeju of Nippon Foundation

On April 22nd, Secretary-General Song Enlei of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) met with the delegation led by Director-General Ogata Takeju of Nippon Foundation visiting Beijing. Secretary-General Song Enlei on behalf of the CAIFC leadership again expressed sympathy and solicitude for the victims in Japan, declaring that the CAIFC pays close attention to the disaster areas; in addition to the timely donation, the CAIFC also actively assists Nippon Foundation with collection in China, and the amount of the funds received by the CAIFC’s account has exceeded CNY 1 million at the moment. These funds are spontaneously donated by teachers and students from 13 China’s universities  which establishes “SASAKAWA Japan-China Friendship scholarship” program, some members of “China’s Mayors to Japan” as well as the organizations and individuals cooperating with Nippon Foundation in China. Secretary-General Song Enlei indicated the Chinese people’s high attentions and strong supports to Japan’s disaster areas have reflected the favourable social effect with the endeavors of the CAIFC and Nippon Foundation by vigorously promoting friendly exchanges between Chinese people and Japanese people through SASAKAWA Japan-China Friendship Foundation for more than two decades. Ogata Tatehata appreciated the long-term supports and helps the CAIFC offers to Nippon Foundation’s promoting friendly exchanges between the two countries, and declared the CAIFC is Nippon Foundation’s best trusted friend and partner in China as it proves. He agreed the deeper exchange and cooperation between both sides in the future.
