The Final of the 10th “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” of China-Japan Weiqi Open Tournament (Blitz Game) is Held in Japan

On January 17th, the The final of the 10th “Agon Shu Kiriyama Cup” of China-Japan Weiqi and Blitz Game Open Tournament was held in Japan successfully Gu Li Section 9 with white chess piece won Zhang Xu Section 9 in the middle of game as well as won the championship and 5 million yen as award. Zhang Xu took the second place and 2 million yen as award. The Chinese chess players had won the championship for 6 consecutive years and the Chinese player 6:4 took the lead.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Games, China and Japan designated four youth chess players respectively to take part in the friendly match and over 10 Japanese professional chess players had mass activities with over 100 amateurish chess players like one professional chess players playing against several amateurs. Chairman of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) expressly sent the congratulatory letters to the games. The China Guizhou TV reported the Chess Final between China and Japan live and other media in China and Japan also reported the games.

This Game were held by the CAIFC, China Qiyuan and Japan Qiyuan and solely sponsored by Japan Agon Shu. Since 1999, the game has been held for 10 times successively and become the brand games for both China and Japan. In recent 10 years, nearly ten thousand chess players have participated in this game, making it the bilateral game between China and Japan with a large number of participants and of high standards. The game played an active role in enhancing the exchange between youth of China and Japan and boosting the friendship between people of the two countries.
