2017-06-16

On June 15th, the Center for Peace and Development Studies (CPDS) held an academic seminar on “Myanmar’s Political Situation and Sino-Myanmar Relations” in Beijing and invited experts and scholars from the China Institute of International Studies, the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, the National Defense University PLA China and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to discuss with a delegation led by LTG Hla Min(Retd.), the chairman of the Myanmar Veterans’ Organization.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the political and economic situation in Myanmar, the prospects and challenges of Sino-Myanmar relations, and the domestic peace process in Myanmar. The Burmese guests said that the friendly relations between Myanmar and China have a long history and the community in Myanmar is optimistic about the prospects of cooperation between the two countries. The Myanmar Veterans Association is willing to further strengthen the friendly exchanges with China and enhance mutual trust and “Paukphaw" friendship between the two peoples.
