From October 14th to 19th, Wang Xiaowei, director of the Peace and Development Research Center (PDRC), led a delegation to visit Japan, and had academic exchanges with scholars from Japan International Forum, Tokai University, Nihon University, Nippon Foundation, Tokyo Foundation, and Sankei Shimbun. Both sides had candid and in-depth discussions over Sino-Japanese relations and relevant hot issues.
Scholars from both sides agreed that the confrontation between China and Japan as the second and the third largest economies in the world, respectively, is against the interests of both countries and harms the peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. It is imperative for both sides to strengthen civil exchanges and cooperation, to enhance mutual understanding and trust, and to consolidate the foundation of Sino-Japanese friendship.
