At the invitation of the Association for Asian Studies, Chen Jun, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), led the CAIFC delegation to visit the United States from June 27 to July 9.
In Washington and New York, the delegation successively met with Representatives in the U.S Congress Addison ? Wilson, Geoff ? Davis, Charles ? Chou and former Senator Ted ? Stevens, and respectively had an academic discussion with the famous think-tank scholars from the Association for Asian Studies, International Institute for Strategic Studies, Euro-Asia Center, Center for Strategic and international Studies and Columbia University's Harriman Institute. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the geopolitical situation around Central Asia, the United States policy in Central Asia, War in Afghanistan, Central Asian countries' political situation, the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Sino-US cooperation in Central Asia.
The two sides deepened the understanding of each other's position through talks and discussions, and laid a good foundation for future academic exchanges and friendly cooperation.
