At the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), the delegation of the Japan-China Friendship and Exchange Association of Japan came to China for visiting and exchange activities from September 14th to 20th. On the evening of September 14th, CAIFC's Vice-President Xin Qi met with the delegation led by Masayuki Okamoto, vice-president of the association.
Xin highly praised the long-term efforts by the association and its vice-president to promote friendship, cooperation and exchanges between China and Japan. Xin pointed out that as this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, efforts to improve and develop Sino-Japanese relations are faced with important opportunities, and that as the foundation of the friendly relations between China and Japan lies in non-governmental exchanges, the prospect of Sino-Japanese relations will be decided by the two peoples. Xin hoped that China and Japan see to it that non-governmental exchanges explore new grounds so as to better serve as the bridge and bond to promote Sino-Japanese relations. Masayuki Okamoto said the association would love to deepen friendship and cooperation with CAIFC, and to make contributions to promoting understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
CAIFC's Deputy Secretary-General Zhao Jun was present during the meeting. The CAIFC made arrangements for the Japanese delegation to visit Beijing, Shenyang, Harbin and Dalian.
