On Oct. 24th, Vice-president Xin Qi Met With Japanese master architect Kengo Kuma in Beijing. Vice-president Xin pointed out that the culture exchanges between China and Japan could date back to 2,000 years ago. Chinese architectural styles especially since the Tang Dynasty exerted great influence on Japan. The Chinese and Japanese sides needed to intensify exchanges amid the era of globalization, and to promote oriental cultures. Xin hoped Mr. Kengo Kuma could further absorb oriental elements into his masterpieces and continue promoting Sino-Japanese relationship. Mr. Kengo Kuma expressed gratitude for Mr. Xin’s support and encouragement. He said China’s economic development attracted worldwide attention and he felt honored to participate in the design works of many famous Chinese landmarks. He said he would love to continue playing a positive role in facilitating the exchanges and friendship between China and Japan.
