On March 4th, Zhou Xinzheng, deputy secretary-general of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), met with Oleg Dyomin, Ukrainian Ambassador to China, as well as his wife, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the hot international and regional issues of common concern.
Deputy secretary-general Zhou appreciated the efforts that the Ambassador has made for the progress of Sino-Ukrainian relations since he took office. He indicated that the bilateral relations of China and Ukraine have been under continuous, healthy and stable development, the political mutual trust has been constantly strengthened, and pragmatic cooperation is increasingly deepened since the two countries established diplomatic relations 22 years ago. Currently, there is a political turmoil in Ukraine, and he sincerely hoped that the issues will be solved through political settlement as soon as possible and the country will resume its stability and order. He indicated that the CAIFC is willing to make joint efforts with Ukrainian friends to tap into the potential for cooperation and constantly consolidate the foundation of friendship between the two peoples.
Ambassador Dyomin thanked the CAIFC for its blessing to the Ukrainian people and introduced the domestic situation and related views in Ukraine. He pointed out that China is an important strategic partner of Ukraine and that giving priority to the development of the relations with China is the basic consensus of all sectors and political factions in Ukraine. He hoped that the CAIFC will make use of the unique advantage of civil diplomacy to help promote pragmatic cooperation between China and Ukraine in various fields to a new level.
