At the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), five former Members of the House of Representatives (MHR) of American Congress Constance Morella, Barbara Kennelly, Philip English, John Tanner and Martin Frost paid a visit to Beijing, Hunan and other places from April 15th to 21st. During their stay in Beijing, Li Zhaoxing, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of National People''s Congress (NPC) and chairman of the CAIFC, met with and entertained the American guests at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Zhou Wenzhong, secretary-general of the Boao Forum for Asia and former ambassador to U.S., Lu Kang, deputy director of the Department of North American and Oceania Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, and some other leaders also met with the delegation. Both sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, such as opportunities and challenges faced by the Sino-U.S. relations, and approaches to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and America. During their stay in Hunan, He Baoxiang, vice-governor of Hunan province, Yang Baohua, vice-secretary of the Chinese People''s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC）Hunan Province Committee and chairman of the Hunan Association for International Friendly Contact (HAIFC), Ma Yong, municipal party secretary of Yiyang City, and some other leaders met with the delegation. The American guests also visited Changsha SANY Group and Hunan International Economics University.
