From July 12th to 20th, at the invitation of Japan Peace Finance Group Sasakawa, the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) organized 9 members of 18th Delegation of Chinese Mayors to have the special investigation on the environmental protection and energy saving and emission reduction in Japan. They had further exchanges with the departments of Japanese government, local administrative agencies and enterprises and the visit was crowned with complete success.
This delegation of Chinese mayors consisted of vice mayor responsible for the environmental protection of six prefecture-level cities including Changbaishan of Jilin, Kiamusze and Mudanjiang of Heilongjiang, Benxi of Liaoning, Huangshi of Hubei and Xiangtan of Hunan and officials of Law Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The leader of the delegation was the Lin Renhe, vice mayor of Baishan of Jilin.
The delegation visited places like Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Kitakyushu and Fukuoka. The delegation met with Ichiro Kamoshita, Minister for Environment of Japan, Namtheun Hideki, chief of Earth Environment Bureau of the Ministry of Environment in Japan and Shika Hiro, vice mayor of Kitakyushu and had a formal discuss with Technological Environment Bureau of Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry in Japan and Kitakyushu Government on the environmental protection and development of recycling economy. They listened to the symposium of Japan International Environment Autonomous Association on the local autonomous environmental protection and visited a large number of enterprises including Tokyo Electric Power Sinagawa Thermal Power Station, Kobe Recycling Centers, METEC, Osaka Prefecture Renewable Resources Industrial Park, Osaka Prefecture Critical Water Treatment Plant, Kitakyushu New Japanese Yawata Steel Plant and Fukuoka Asahi Breweries.
